Bon Jovi's Daughter Arrested: Hamilton College, Where Stephanie Rose Bongiovi Had Scary Heroin Overdose, Charged with Drugs in NY

Early Wednesday morning (at approximately 1:51 a.m. on Nov. 14), rock star Jon Bon Jovi's 19-year-old daughter Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was arrested for multiple misdemeanor drug charges after police discovered heroin and marijuana in her dorm room at Hamilton College in Upstate New York. Bongiovi was rushed to the hospital and just released on Thursday (Nov. 15) - she is currently recovering from an alleged heroin overdose. Hamilton College is a well-respected liberal arts institution school located in Clinton, NY that considers itself a "national leader in teaching students to write effectively, learn from each other, and think for themselves."

Bongiovi and another student, 21-yearold Ian S. Grant (both originally from Red Bank, NJ), were both arrested by Kirkland police when drugs were found on their possession in a dorm room at Hamilton College. Bongiovi was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, while Grant was just charged with the prior. Hamilton recently released in a public statement:

 "In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation. Our first concern is always for the safety of our students. Out of respect for the privacy of our students and in accordance with federal regulations we do not discuss individual health or disciplinary matters."

Here are some more facts about the prestigious liberal-arts college, commonly referred to as 'Little Ivy' for its rigorous academics and high entrance standards.

Tuition and fees for the 2012-2013 school year: $55,620.

Founded as a boys' school in 1793 and chartered as Hamilton College in 1812. It became coeducational in 1978, when it merged with its sister school of Kirkland College.

Hamilton typically enrolls 1,812 students - with an even split between male and female.

Referred to as the 'College on the Hill' (due to its location on top of College Hill in Clinton, Upstate NY).

College offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in more than 50 subjects and programs in China, France, Spain, New York City, and Washington, DC.

In 2012 U.S. News & World Report magazine ranked Hamilton as the 16th best national liberal arts college in the U.S.

The college has a total of 26 dorms, ranging from former fraternity houses, suites, apartment style housing, and more traditional dormitory-style housing.

In October 2010, the College adopted a gender-neutral housing policy, allowing students of either sex to room together in accommodation designated for two or more students.

On the last day of spring term, all afternoon classes are cancelled so students can enjoy the tradition of a campus-wide picnic and party

Every year since 2004 the college has offerd an outdoor May Day Music Festival, sponsored by several on-campus organizations. Past performers include Citizen Cope, Eve 6, and Catch-22.

60 percent of students come from public (state) schools and 40 percent from private schools.

Famous alumni: "Ghost" actor Tony Goldwyn (1982), actor and writer for "The Office" Paul Lieberstein ('89), and "Hollywood Heights" star Grayson McCouch ('91).
