After only one season's worth of episodes, MTV has canceled the technology driven horror thriller series Eye Candy, starring former Disney Channel star Victoria Justice. The series was based on the R.L. Stine book of the same name and followed the story of a young hacker who thinks one of her online dating suitors could be a serial killer. Premiering in January of 2015, the series ran for 10 episodes and will not be renewed for a second season. Justice confirmed this news this weekend with a length message posted to her Twitter account.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Justice's message to her fans thanked viewers and the show's cast and crew, including showrunner Christian Taylor and executive producer Jason Blum of horror movie house Blumhouse Productions . The touching message is sure to be bittersweet since fans of the show will no longer be able to enjoy the series.

"I wanted you guys to hear it from me first, that the cast and I received news that Eye Candy will not be returning for season 2," Justice wrote in her message thanking those involved in the show, according to Deadline. "Even though a lot of you are going to feel sad/angry, please know that playing Lindy Sampson, is something that I loved and I will hold dear to my heart. I couldn't have asked for better cast mates to work with either. They are the most down to earth, talented and kind souls that I am so happy to have met."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this series went through an overhaul after its pilot, which might not have been the best omen.

She continued: "Last but definitely not at all least, thank you to the amazing fans. I saw all of your WW trends (it might be 23 or 24 to date) and your unflinching support. It's because of all of you that I get to do what I love. I am beyond grateful for that."
