Based on the crime novels by the late author Elmore Leonard, the Season 6 finale of Justified finally aired. Was there an alternate ending, during Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins)'s final showdown, where Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter) collapsed from her "world of violence?"

In our previous recap, Boyd murdered an innocent man, (guest star Shea Whigham), who drove him to the mountaintop. During his intense shootout with Raylan, Boyd then filled Constable Bob (Patton Oswalt) with lead, distracting his former best friend. With Bob's status unknown, Boyd had an explosive confrontation with Zachariah. Ava (Joelle Carter) was finally captured by Avery's corrupt police officers and held hostage.

In our recent recap, Boyd threw dynamite to escape the marshals as he blasted his way through Avery Markham (Sam Elliott) to get to Ava. Though Raylan was tempted to pull his gun, he decided to arrest Boyd instead. After an intense shootout with Boon (Jonathan Tucker) left him wounded, Raylan was unable to stop Ava from escaping.

In the four year jump, Raylan is a happily divorced father taking care of his daughter. Knowing Ava is raising Boyd's son, Raylan promised to keep her secret and falsified her death. In prison, Boyd and Raylan realized they are still best friends, ever since they dug coal together.

In an interview with Variety, Carter shares her thoughts about the character, "She reminds me of my mother, who thought about life as a challenge, but that you should never give up and always try to make the most out of it. Somehow in this world of violence, Ava managed to keep her softness, her femininity - although slightly hardened - throughout her journey. If I can do that through life, that would be great."

The Jessebelle actress reveals what she wants most from fans of the show, "I hope it will leave the idea that you can have dramatic entertainment that also has an underlying sense of comedy. We touch on some heavy stuff, but you can also find yourself laughing throughout the hour, and you can escape."
