It's being reported that Google executive Dan Fredinburg died this past Saturday in an avalanche on Mount Everest that was reportedly triggered by the horrific earthquake that occurred in Nepal. The earthquake was of a 7.8 magnitude. The Guardian reports that not only did the exec lose his life, but so did at least 17 other climbers.

Fredinburg was hiking with the company Jagged Globe, who released a statement via their website following his death:

"It is with greatest sorrow that we report the death of one of our Everest team members, Daniel Frediburg. Two other team members have non-life threatening injuries, as a result of the avalanche that struck base camp during the earthquake and its aftershocks. They are being looked after in base camp. All Sherpas and other team members are uninjured and are safe in base came or in Gorak Shep, a nearby cluster of tea houses and lodges."

Fredinburg's death was confirmed by his sister on Instagram:

Jagged Globe's marketing director, Tom Briggs, explained to The Guardian that Fredinburg and his crew "saw the avalanche coming and were able to make a run for it but the camp was right in the middle of it.
