At an event in Japan called NicoNico Chokaigi another new name was added to the upcoming Tekken-like Pokemon fighting game Pokkèn Tournament. At the event the crowd at hand saw the impending arrival of the ghost-type original Gengar.

There was speculation of Gengar being a playable character in Pokkèn back in 2014 during a Twitter campaign. In the trailer which you can see right below, Gengar is equipped with a few signature moves in Night Shade, Feint Attack, Lick and a new move entirely titled Burst Attack.

Those moves aren't the only thing in Gengar's arsenal though. In the trailer the ghastly fighter (no pun intended) is seen transforming into his Mega Evolution.

Other names revealed were Gardevoir, Suicune and Pikachu. Their announcement came a few months earlier in January 2015. They joined the first two announced Pokkèn fighters, Lucario and Machamp.

The arrival of Gengar, Suicune, Pikachu and Gardevoir shows that the Pokèmon Company is not against using types outside of the obvious fighting. While this particular Nintendo brand is widely regarded as kiddy stuff, the advent of unique types such as fire, water, dark, fairy and psychic might add a sort of depth something a Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tekken, Pokkèn's parent fighting game, is not able to pull off.

Pokkèn was first revealed during a Pokemon game show event held in Japan back in August 2013. It was revealed the game came about after a collaboration between the Pokèmon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada and Soulcalibur producer Masaaki Hoshino. Their creative minds put together what may end being the most expansive fighting game we've ever seen. The best part is that it somehow stays true to the Pokemon brand. As for now there is no release date. All that's been revealed is Pokkèn will be arcade exclusive.
