The last time any new Dragon Ball-related television episodes were released was in 1996. That year everyone believed the series concluded with the last episode of Dragon Ball GT. After more than twenty-years though, that stretch of no-new Dragon Ball episodes has come to an end as a new series is in the works. One of the best parts of this news is Dragon Ball's creator, Akira Toriyama, will be at the helm. The series premiere will be in Japan this July and is going to be called Dragon Ball Super. The anime site Famitsu is reporting it will take place right after Goku defeats Majin Buu. Producer Osamu Nozaki claims the villain will be the most powerful one in the entire Dragon Ball series thus far.

"As I read the plot [of the series] I've already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear..."

The voice of Goku, Gohan and Goten, Masako Nozawa, is excited for the new series:

"We've always used the word 'chō' (Super) with Dragon Ball in commercials, games and the like, but the fact that the series titled Dragon Ball Super is beginning is the best thing ever."

Before the new series debuts fans are going to be treated to a new Dragon Ball movie. Dragon Ball Resserection F will be hitting American theaters during the summer. Until then, only Japanese residents are able to watch it.

Toriyama says that the manga's first editor, an editor who rarely likes first drafts, said he enjoyed what is written so far. Toriyama also says that he is paying attention to the detail of even the smallest dialogue lines. According to him the story is "utterly funny."
