James Cameron is planning on making three new Avatar movies, with the first sequel set for a 2017 release date. That seems like a plenty of material that is sure to be pretty ambitious, but a new interview with Academy Award winning composer James Horner, who is set to work with Cameron on these sequels, has revealed that the Terminator director has actually written a script for a 5th Avatar. Will we see four new sequels or can Cameron work his writing down to only three more?

All of these numbers might be a little confusing, but Cameron has confirmed that three new sequels would get a theatrical release in the near future. This would mean the franchise could end with Avatar 4, but this news from Horner suggests Avatar 5 is a possibility!

"Right now Jim has... four sequels script-wise, and he's trying to make it into three," Horner told HeyUGuys, according to IGN. "And that is where his effort is going right now, to keep it to three sequels. Because he's got so much going on...trying to keep it from expanding into a fifth movie".

So it sounds like the filmmaker definitely wants to make only three sequels, but just can't contain the stories as much as he thought he could. If Avatar stretches to five movies, would that be so terrible?
