Great, now the world is just going to get fat. No, we're kidding. But in all seriousness, it's being reported that the founder of Weight Watchers, Jean Nidetch, has passed away at the age of 91 years old. The company has been known the help people all across the world, including celebrities such as Jennifer Hudson and Jessica Simpson. Nidetch, who founded the idea of the company back in 1961 – though it didn't officially start until 1963 – died at her home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida earlier this morning.

TMZ notes that the businesswoman initially started the company in order to help herself, as she once weighed 214 lbs and was 5'7".

The New York Times report that she once held a 44-inch waist.

"I don't really remember, but I'm positive that whenever I cried, my mother gave me something to eat," Nidetch wrote in The Story of Weight Watchers, according to The Times.

In order to help herself, Nidetch began eating fish five times a week along with some vegetables. "She soon started inviting friends over and they would talk in her living room about their common goals," TMZ writes.

Thus, Weight Watchers was born!

Of course, the company became a classic diet for men and women across the country. She would soon become a celebrity, having once made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

To celebrate her 90th birthday last year, the folks at Weight Watchers released the below video.

RIP, Jean Nidetch.
