Season 3 of the crime thriller, The Following, continues on Fox with Episode 11, Demons. After a major death occurred, will Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) be able to take down Theo (Michael Ealy) if he's going to be haunted by the death of his friend, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy)?

In the previous seasons, ex-FBI agent Hardy (Bacon) went rogue in order to catch the notorious killer Carroll (Purefoy) and stop his murderous cult. Because he caught him once red-handed, Hardy thought he could do it again. After watching those closet to him would suffer, Ryan thought he would find closure from Joe's execution.

In the recap by TV Guide, at the date of his execution, Carroll staged a hostage situation, which forced Ryan to head to the prison. During their final confrontation, Caroll and Ryan revealed to themselves that they have always been friends. After watching his friend being executed, Ryan was haunted by Joe's ghost as he returned to drinking.

Executive producer Brett Mahoney tells the site, "When Ryan let Joe back into his life, it was almost like letting a virus or infection back in. It's really about the place that Joe occupies in Ryan's mind, and Ryan has got to find a way to exorcise that out. That'll be his process in the last five episodes of the season."

In the footage, Ryan's drinking and hallucinations are affecting his judgement. Gwen (Zuleikha Robinson), who happens to be pregnant, is having doubts about her relationship. Can Ryan keep it together before he has to face Theo?

Though there is no word yet of a fourth season of The Following, According to The Hollywood Reporter, Purefoy has signed on with Michael Kenneth Williams (Boardwalk Empire) for the new Sundance TV series, Hap and Leonard.

In an interview with TV Line, Purefoy jokingly speaks about his death scene, ""They didn't pull the rug out from underneath you and do something unexpected. They said, "He's dying - and hereally is gonna die.' I think a lot of people thought they were lying. No, no; he died."

The Following continues on Fox Mondays at 9 pm.
