While Marvel's Daredevil is being binge-watched by viewers, there is still an empty slot to fill in the Netflix superhero series. Before the Marvel superheroes team-up, after Mike Colter gets his own series, Marvel's Luke Cage, will Ryan Phillippe play Danny Rand aka Marvel's Iron Fist?

As we previously mentioned, in the next Netflix/Marvel lineup, Jessica Jones (Ritter) will become the super-powered private eye as she investigates cases of the extraordinary kind. Luke Cage will first appear in an episode of Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones. During an investigation in New York City, the private investigator will encounter the enigmatic superhero. His secrets will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined.

According to IGN, the Secrets and Lies actor revealed on the Howard Stern show that he is currently meeting with Marvel. Both parties are interested in discussing a new project. Because of Phillippe and Stern's conversation, the rumor mill started and speculated he was talking about playing Iron Fist.

The Cruel Intentions actor then went to his official Twitter account to clear up the rumors, "I have no real Marvel news other than an upcoming meeting. Sorry to disappoint fans thought there was more to it. There is no story there."

It's speculation right now that he is vying for the Iron Fist role. As we mentioned before, American Crime creator John Ridley has been brought in to "reinvent" a Marvel superhero for television. Could it be for that project?

We also mentioned, Netflix has announced Season 2 of its superhero series, Marvel's Daredevil. There will be a few changes for the man without fear as executive producer Steven S. DeKnight steps down and adds new show runners Doug Petrie (American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy).

Check out our 5 reasons why we're excited for Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil.
