On Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas a packed out crowd paid big money to finally see two of boxing's greats, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, finally face each other. After 12 rounds the judges came to the decision that Mayweather was the victor against his longtime rival. While most scoring at home agreed with the judges, Pacquiao did not share the same sentiments. Not only did Pacquiao think he won, he also said he could have done better were it not for a shoulder injury.

Pacquiao made the claim in a post fight interview.

"Three weeks before the fight I got a tear in my right shoulder," he said. "It got better but it wasn't 100%."

Before the fight Pacquiao wanted to have an injection in his right shoulder but his request was refused by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, said injuries were nothing out of the ordinary for men and women in his position.

"Athletes always fight hurt and we felt the work that was done on the shoulder during training would enable him to use his right hand," said Arum.

While Pacquiao was talking about his injury, Mayweather was on a tear of his own. For him, he was happy to make the doubters "eat their words." According to Mayweather, all he heard was people telling him that he was scared to take the fight for fear of having his undefeated streak snapped. Looks like they were wrong.

"For years, everyone said that I was scared and that I'd lose," said Mayweather, who is undefeated in 48 professional fights stretching back 19 years. "I made the non-believers into believers. I was the better man, the smarter fighter – more calculated, more patient. He was applying pressure but not landing many punches and I was just keeping my jab in his face."
