New 'Indiana Jones' Movie: 5th Franchise Film Confirmed by Lucasfilm, Cast & Plot Rumors Erupt

Right after Indiana Jones 4 flopped in theaters, fans of the Harrison Ford movie franchise have wondered if Indiana Jones 5 would ever happen, and what it would take to reboot the franchise again. This week, according to new reports, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that a new Indiana Jones film is on the way thanks to the Disney merger, but we shouldn't expect a release date announcement any time soon. This confirmation came when Kennedy was interviewed by Vanity Fair for the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens cover story - though this news hasn't been published online just yet, it comes from the physical copy, spotted by Coming Soon. According to the Lucasfilm president, Indiana Jones 5 "will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I'm not quite sure. We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."

As Slash Film points out, we're pretty far away from an actual confirmation on this news, especially regarding what type of movie it could be. We may see a reboot, a sequel, a remake or something else by the time this starts production, so we shouldn't get too excited just yet.

Meanwhile, the latest cast rumors surrounding a possible Indiana Jones film involved Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt coming on board. Again, this is all wild speculation at this point because we're very far off from any concrete news surrounding this project; though it would be pretty great to see Pratt and Ford in any type of film together, especially within this franchise.
