Dean Ambrose earned a spot in the main event of Payback to turn the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match into a Fatal Four Way featuring Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Randy Orton. But why was the Lunatic Fringe added to the match?

The latest round of WWE rumors claims that the company did not want to do too many Triple Threat matches in too short of a period. Reports have maintained for weeks that Rollins would face Reigns and a returning Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam in August. Therefore, it seems that Ambrose would be the fall guy in the match at Payback.

On Monday Night Raw earlier this week, Kane came out before the Ambrose vs. Rollins match and said that if Ambrose wins, then he gets to be in the main event at Payback to turn it into a Fatal Four Way. Rollins protested, but Ambrose said that is a fantastic idea. Ambrose did indeed win when J&J Security tried to get involved, which allowed Ambrose to roll up Rollins.

Later on that night, The Authority emerged before the Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns match and Jamie Noble announced that The Authority would be at ringside with Rollins as guest commentator and the rest as ringside enforcer and timekeeper. The match went to a no contest when the Authority attacked Orton and Reigns. Ambrose's music hit and the three babyfaces drove off the Authority. But Orton then RKOed Reigns, and Ambrose delivered Dirty Deeds to the Viper to stand tall as the show went off the air.

In other news, The Undertaker's contract with WWE reportedly expires soon, though the expectation is that he will work WrestleMania 32 in Dallas.

Chris Jericho is also teasing a WWE announcment, which rumors say is another house show tour this summer.

Finally, Charlotte was apparently backstage at Raw last night and was scheduled for Thursday Night SmackDown, as well. Her call up to the main roster is expected to happen shortly.
