Who wouldn't dream of singing your heart out for celebrities like Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguelira? Well that's just what The Voice star, Koryn Hawthorne (17) is doing. The Abbeville, Louisiana native who is "Team Pharrell" on the hit show talked one on one with MStars News reporter, Star Connor about her new gig and where she hopes the singing show competition will take her future music career.

Koryn's voice is much more mature than her age and draws huge attention from her fans. For the past nine years, the 17-year-old has been a member of a local singing group that performs at nursing homes, benefits and in competitions. Koryn may be young and from a small town, but that doesn't stop her from pursuing her dreams.

Star Connor: How does it feel to still be here and a part of the team?

Koryn Hawthorne: "It feels really good. There's a lot of stress and hard work that goes into it. To still be here lets me know that I'm doing the right thing. This is one of my life long dreams so it feels really good."

Star Connor: You were saved twice by Pharrell. How does it feel to be working under him?

Koryn Hawthorne: "Everything you thought would be like Pharrell, he is! He's like one of the most amazing people I've ever met in my whole life and just to have somebody like that -- leading me and guiding me with great advice -- I couldn't ask for anything more."

She continues, "He saved me twice so I guess he really believes in me and my gift. I'm just so thankful to have him as a coach."

Star Connor: You have a very mature voice. How do you think it will set you apart from the other competitors?

Koryn Hawthorne: "I don't even know. I think, like you said, it's a little more mature, a bit more raspy. I had people tell me the fact that I sang in church, that it's truly a gift from God. When you grow up singing in church, I think that automatically makes you a good singer."

Star Connor: How does it feel to be in the spotlight after growing up in a small Louisiana town?

Koryn Hawthorne: "It feels really weird. Before all of this stuff with The Voice, I was a normal teenager. I worked at a pizza shop... so to come from something like that and then have all of these amazing supporters has been an amazing experience and I'm just so thankful that God blessed me with this opportunity."

Star Connor: You were once singing in nursing homes. Are your fellow nursing home fans watching the show?

Koryn Hawthorne: "My step-mom actually works at one of the nursing homes that I use to sing at. She's always telling me how they go into the front room and watch it every single Monday and Tuesday. I'm really happy and excited that they do that. I'm doing this for them too."

Star Connor: How do you feel The Voice is going to help you in the future?

Koryn Hawthorne: "I think it already has. The whole experience has for everybody on the show. We have grown tremendously and there are things that I can take for my career. It most definitely has given us exposure. I'm hoping that even if I don't win, that there will be people that want to work with me....I've grown so much."

Monday night, Koryn sang two songs for the semifinals round. She did "Mary Don't You Weep" by Aretha Franklin and "The One" by Mary J. Blige.

Take a peek below, and don't forget to vote for Koryn to make it on to the final night. Don't forget to tune in every Monday and Tuesday 8/7c. on NBC.
