Marvel Comics' most famous tree will be starring in his very own series this upcoming June. The Guardians of the Galaxy member, and Rocket Raccoon's best friend, is on a galactic road trip of epic proportions in writer Jeff Loveness (Jimmy Kimmel Live)  and artist Brian Kesinger (Disney Animation) in Groot #1.

As we previously mentioned, Groot is a rare kind of Flora colossus from Planet X, the capital of the branch worlds. Known for saying his name repeatedly, Groot belongs to a group of cosmic adventurers brought together by Star-Lord aka Peter Quill. The Guardians of the Galaxy serve to protect the universe from ominous threats all across space. The alien creature is a rare kind of Flora colossus from Planet X, the capital of the branch worlds.

In the plot synopsis, for the first time in years, Groot is separated from his best pal and translator, Rocket Raccoon. Can he make it on his own in the vast and frightening galaxy? Armed with just the words "I", "Am" and "Groot" - Groot is about to embark on a new kind of adventure filled with explosions, intergalactic hitchiking, and space sharks! After the first issue, keep your eyes peeled for a couple of intergalactic guest stars.

In an interview with Marvel, Loveness describes having a protagonist with limited vocabulary. "Groot doesn't talk much, but he communicates through his actions. He communicates through his body language. I've been looking at Charlie Chaplin in City Lights, Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro and characters from The Triplets of Belleville' and Pixar movies for reference. You can convey so much without speaking."

We also mentioned, the end of the Marvel and Ultimate Universe has just occurred in Secret Wars #1. We will have to wait and see if Groot will tie-in to the epic Secret Wars event, or if the story will take place sometime before.

Groot #1 arrives in stores on June 3, 2015.

Readers, are you excited to grab the first issue of Groot?
