CBS released an all-new trailer to their upcoming DC Comics superhero drama, Supergirl. In 6 minutes of exciting footage from the pilot, the trailer introduces to Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), and Jimmy Olson (Mehcad Brooks) as their comic book counterparts.

As we previously mentioned, the CBS superhero drama will follow the comic book adventures of Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped before its destruction. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at the tender age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be

Check out our 5 thoughts on the Supergirl trailer:

5) Did She Just Catch that Plane With Her Bare Hands!

Based on the footage, Kara has been pretending to live a normal life, keeping her powers hidden. What drives Kara to suddenly use her powers? She has to save her adopted sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), when her plane starts to fall from the sky. In the comics, and in Superman Returns, the Man of Steel makes his big entrance when he has to stop a plane, with Lois Lane inside as a passenger, from crashing into Metropolis. Lifted straight from the comics, Supergirl has to keep the plane from diving straight into the bridge.

4) Sexism Wherever You Go

What made Marvel's Agent Carter stand out during its first season was how the show didn't hold back on the sexist remarks. And this show was set in the 1940s! Set in the present day, Supergirl is really put down harshly, especially by the military general, because she's female. It's like nothing has changed all these years but still, Supergirl moves forward, continuing to prove herself.

3) Jimmy Olson, Where's Your Red Hair?

We mentioned before, Jimmy Olsen (Brooks) is a photographer at CatCo.,where Kara works. Jimmy has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason why is still a secret. In the New 52 Universe, Jimmy knows Clark is the Man of Steel and he doesn't care, because they're best friends. I hope we get to see Jimmy's romantic relationship develop with Supergirl.

2) Ma And Pa Kent, Is That You?

As we perviously mentioned, Dean Cain and Helen Slater also join the cast with the series regulars. Remember how the CW Network brought back John Wesley Shipp, who was the original The Flash on CBS, to play Henry Allen in the new version. Dean Cain was Clark Kent in The Adventures of Lois and Clark and Helen Slater played the title role of Supergirl in the '80s movie. It looks like Ma and Pa Kent will be playing guest-starring roles in the CBS series.

1) Super...Woman

My favorite part of the trailer is when Kara and Cat Grant debate about the difference between Supergirl and Superwoman. Kudos to Calista Flockhart for delivering her great speech. The Ally McBeal actress states, "I'm a girl, and you're boss, and powerful, rich, hot, and smart. So if you perceive Supergirl anything less than excellent, isn't the real problem...you?" Take that haters!

Supergirl will premiere during the fall on CBS Mondays at 8pm.

Readers, are you excited to see Supergirl?
