Back by popular demand, the iconic sci-fi/horror series will premiere on Fox in 2016. Will viewers have an "emotional, tear-jerking reunion" between paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) in the highly anticipated revival of The X-Files.

As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with 6 brand new episodes. Not only are the leads set to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Duchovny describes reading the script of the first episode, "I just read it about an hour ago and I started crying reading the first page. It was just so strange to see the names on the page. It had nothing to do with the script itself. It was just like, I'd been talking about this for a long time. We'd been planning it for a long time. It took a long time to get all the people in the same place and get the deal with Fox. So let's say two years we've been talking about doing it. Now it's the fun part. Now we actually get to do it. That was nice and strangely emotional for me, and I'll have to figure out how to use that [in the performance]."

The Aquarius actor reveals if the episodes will be standalone or mythology, "Even though there's only six, there will be a mix," he said. "It's not really The X-Files without the mythology."

We also mentioned, Millennium writer Darin Morgan, who wrote the classic episode, José Chung's From Outer Space, is returning as well. Frank Spotnitz, who co-wrote the second The X-files feature, I Want To Believe, is in question though.
