While another season of the Bachelor ended earlier this year, fans held their breath as Chris Soules proposed to Whitney Bischoff and hoped that they would be able to outrun the Bachelor/Bachelorette curse. However, when news broke of the pair calling off their engagement, they just become a statistic in the long line of failed romances that have come from the ABC series. While rumors have been circling saying that Soules has let the fame of Hollywood go to his head, there is a lot of speculation as to why the relationship actually ended.

Things seemed all hunky-dory when Chris posted pictures on his Instagram account of Whitney visiting in his home state of Iowa a couple weeks ago, but according to Radar Online it seems that the images were all smoke and mirrors.

The news site is reporting that this trip is what ultimately made the two realize that they no longer wanted to be together.

"Chris refused to buy Whitney a plane ticket to see him in Iowa, forcing her to drive from Chicago!" the source explained to the news site. "Whitney felt she had to go to Iowa several weeks ago in an attempt to save the relationship. After arriving, it became obvious that Chris didn't care about the relationship."

The duo released a joint statement, via Us Weekly, earlier this week about their decision to split.

"Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement," the statement read. "They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."

Hopefully current Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe has better luck.
