The first season finale of the Batman prequel, Gotham, aired on Fox. In the upcoming Season 2 of Gotham, will Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Luscious Fox (Chris Chalk) be able to stop assistant district attorney, Harvey Dent (Nicholas D'Agosto), from becoming the infamous Two-Face?

In our finale recap, after a botched hit, Gordon came to the rescue of Carmine Falcone just when Penguin was about to slit his throat. Trouble mounted for the detective as Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) returned with a vengeance and shot Sal Maroni (David Zayas) in the head. Elsewhere, Barbara confessed to Leslie that she murdered her parents and almost tried to kill her.

In the closing minutes, Falcone gave up his life of crime after Jim helped him reach a safe house. The Penguin took his revenge on Fish, grabbed her, and threw her off the roof; officially making him the number one mob boss. Bruce discovered his father was actually hiding the Batcave.

According to TV Line, the Masters of Sex actor has been upgraded to series regular. This casting announcement has been made ahead of the upcoming second season. The recurring role included a series-regular option, which the show has decided to exercise.

On his official Twitter account, D'Agosto shared the news and tweeted, "Thank you to all of you @Gotham and #HarveyDent fans for your enthusiasm. I can't wait to join more of the fun as a regular in Season 2!"

The site also reports that the Newsroom actor has also been upped to series regular. Executive producer John Stephens reveals that Luscious "becomes another person who's going to help Bruce on his journey to find out what happened to his parents and what his parents were doing, and also his journey to manhood and Batman-hood."

In the Batman comics, Harvey Dent becomes his split personality when his face is scarred during a courtroom battle. Mob boss Sal Maroni throws a vial of acid at Dent's face. Because Maroni (David Zayas) was shot in the head by Fish, it looks like Two-Face's origin story may take a different direction on the TV show.

As we previously mentioned, viewers will be seeing more of Jim Gordon's love interest, Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), during the sophomore season.
