It's a sad day in the world of politics. MStars News has learned that vice president, Joe Biden's son, Beau Biden, died over the weekend at the age of 46 following his battle with brain cancer.

According to Politico, the former Delaware attorney general died Saturday, May 30th, the vice president's office revealed. Biden had been receiving treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center for a couple of weeks, but the medicine failed.

"The entire Biden family is saddened beyond words. We know that Beau's spirit will live on in all of us––especially through his brave wife, Hallie, and two remarkable children, Natalie and Hunter," the vice president's statement read.

Beau died with his entire family by his side.

Biden's cancer wasn't the only health issue that he suffered in his lifetime. According to ABC 6, Biden survived a 1972 car crash at the age of 3 that killed his mother and baby sister. His father was elected to the Senate before that crash and was sworn into office by his son's bedside.

Beau also suffered from mild stroke at 41 back in 2010, after starting his political career.

His father was no stranger to health problems. Joe had surgery for a life-threatening aneurysm back in 1987.

Before he died, Beau was planning on running for governor in 2016.

RIP
