The first season followed Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Maestro) as they discovered a deadly vampire plague spreading across New York City. As they search for a cure, an old and retired vampire hunter, Abraham Setrakian, (David Bradley) and a rat exterminator, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand), join the crusade to defeat the ancient evil. They must all work together to save the world from The Master and his minions, including Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel).

5) New Features!

As we previously mentioned, Fox Home Entertainment is releasing the first season of vampire series in a special Collector's Edition. In this latest edition, there will be audio commentary on select episodes, as well as deleted scenes. A new featurette entitled, He Is Here, will also be included. Plus, don't you like that the box is shaped like the Master's head?

4) The Scares!

The makeup artists have done a fantastic job with the creepy look of the vampires. One of the standout episodes from the show has to be Loved Ones. The story follows Kelly Goodweather (Natalie Brown) as her vampire infection takes over her system. We as viewers get to witness what a vampire sees and hears from their perspective.

3) Creatures of the Night

My personal favorite episode of the first season is Creatures of the Night. This is where Eph's storyline and Vasiliy's solo mission finally converge in a no-holds barred confrontation. The episode was Night of the Living Dead set at a gas station and it didn't skimp of the thrills! And then the jaw drops when Jim Kent (Sean Astin) meets his tragic fate!

2) Eichorist Vs. Strakian

How cool is actor David Bradley (Game of Thrones) because of this show! His tough guy character, Abraham Setrakian, is an action hero. Richard Sammel (Inglorious Basterds) just chews the scenery up with glee when Eichorist steps into a room! Sammel just makes it so easy to root for the bad guy!

1) The Pilot!

The Crimson Peak filmmaker directed the pilot and its was everything we imagined, plus more. The blue colors gave an eerie atmosphere when Eph and Nora entered the creepy dead plane. Who else jumped during that scare when The Master came out of the shadows and made his first kill?
