The official subtitle for the highly anticipated follow-up to EA Games and DICE's Mirror's Edge has been released this week after some rumors surrounding a trademark leak suggested the new title. Confirming this news in a news update on the game's official website, we can now call this game Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but we shouldn't be calling it a sequel! Find out more on this news below!

After news spread about the trademark leak and rumors, DICE decided to take this speculation into its own hands. Check out what the developers posted on Twitter to officially confirm the subtitle:

This is clearly a cool title, but why isn't it a sequel like we expected? According to PC Gamer, the game's senior director, Sara Jansson confirmed and explained this news on the official Mirror's Edge website in a news update.

"The team has spent a lot of time re-evaluating every aspect of the game and making it a new experience," Jansson explained, according to IGN. "This is not a sequel, this is not Mirror's Edge 2. We have landed on a vision that honors the first game - pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith - but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players."

Jansson continued: "So on behalf on the entire team here at DICE, we can't wait to show you what we have been pouring our heart and soul into. We can't wait to introduce you to Mirror's Edge Catalyst."
