Billy Bob Thornton might appear to have it all, but the new Entourage star recently came clean about the day that changed his life forever. No, it wasn't when he won the Academy Award for Sling Blade¸ it was Oct. 3, 1988, when his younger brother Jimmy died of a heart condition. In a recent interview with Oprah's Master Class, Thornton discusses the fact that since his brother's death, he has "never trusted happiness" again.

"I've only had a couple of times in my life when I was carefree," he says. "For a couple of years I felt okay, which is very rare for me. And then he died. I've never trusted happiness since."

And though the tragedy was some time ago, the award-winner seems to still feel the impact today, as he says that he must "force himself" into thinking that things will be okay in the end.

"There's a melancholy in me that never goes away. I'm 50% happy and 50% sad at any given moment. And the only advice I can give people when you lose someone like that is– you won't ever get over it. And the more you know that and embrace it, the better off you are."

Despite the feelings of loss, Thornton admits that he doesn't want it to go away because he never wants to lose the thought of his brother.

"I don't want to forget about what it felt like when he died because he deserves it. That's how important he was to me."
