Funny lady Vanessa Bayer might appear to have it all now that she's a leading player on Saturday Night Live, but it looks like the comedian didn't always have it easy. Back when she was 15 years old, Bayer reportedly battled leukemia. Thankfully, she was able to beat the cancer, but it appears that the shock of being a ill child doesn't go away so easily.

"Being a sick child is obviously extremely difficult," Bayer told People. She further noted that being in and out of hospitals at such a young age, and doing treatments at the same time, "you're not getting to do all of the things that other kids your age are doing."

Per the report, Bayer apparently when through about ten days of radiation treatment on top of almost a year of chemotherapy.

Now that she's cancer-free, Bayer has expressed the importance of organizations such as The Make-A-Wish Foundation, particularly because they help in taking sick children away from moments that are "stressful at times and boring and extremely alienating."

Back when she was able to use her wish, Bayer decided to take her family on a trip to Hawaii.

"The Make-A-Wish trip was such as special time for me to be away from hospitals and from all of the stressful, bad things we were dealing with. It was truly a wonderful, uplifting experience.
