Chris Rock,Tyra Ferrell Join 'Empire' Cast in Season 2

Empire returns this September with America's favorite family and with new cast members. Empire season 2 will be back on Fox, September 23rd.

According to USA Today, Empire star, Taraji P. Henson who plays the family matriarch, Cookie Lyon, tweeted the wonderful news last month.

The date is very significant because it's first Wednesday of the traditional TV premiere week.

This time around, fans of the show will welcome newcomers, Chris Rock, and Tyra Ferrell. If you know anything about the 90s then you know Ms. Ferrell. She was a part of hit movies such as Boyz n the Hood, Jungle Fever, White Men Can't Jump, and Poetic Justice.

In the snapshot below, Empire producer and director, Lee Daniels takes a quick moment to give Ferrell a shout out, and welcome her to the Empire team.

Daniels also added a clip from the show revealing some of the behind the scenes crew.

In the next video, Daniels has some one on one time with Chris Rock and Terrence Howard, aka Lucious Lyon and asked Rock how was to be a part of the show.

"My first day was incredible ...worked with the great, Terrence Howard, and the great Lee Daniels," the comedian said, as Terrence admitted to punching him in the stomach. "Terrence punched him in the stomach by accident."

Rock replied, "I don't know if it was an accident, he does have a reputation."

Speaking of Terrence, MStars News previously reported that the actor and his wife welcomed a baby boy into the world not too long ago. The Best Man star also explained what his son's name, Qirin Love meant. Howard said that Qirin's name "is derived from the mythic Chinese creature, the qilin, which is said to appear before a time of prosperity or serenity." Now we know what little Love looks like. In the photo below Howard tweets a photo of himself asleep with his baby boy. How adorable are these two!?
