Amy Schumer has been a great comic for a while now. It wasn't until she had more eyes on her that she began being criticized for being "racist." The Inside amy Schumer star argues she definitely isn't so, as edgy jokes have always been a part of her set. It isn't anything different than what she has been doing her whole career. Therefore, Schumer defended herself and her act via Twitter after allegations of her being a racist came about.

"You can call it a 'blind spot' for racism or 'lazy' but you are wrong," she said. "I know that because people laugh at it. Even if you personally did not. I am not going to start joking about safe material. And don't ask that of me. I love what I do and won't let anyone take that away. I ask you to resist the urge to pick me apart. Trust me. I am not racist."

The "blind spot" Schumer is referring to is an excerpt written about her in The Guardian. According to this particular piece, Schumer was criticized for calling Latina women "crazy" and that her racial humor has no larger point. The Guardian article critiqued jokes of hers such as:

"Nothing works 100% of the time, except Mexicans."

"I used to date Latino guys. Now I prefer consensual."

The Guardian article also attacked a bit of hers on her television show Inside Amy Schumer. The sketch is about teaching men to outwit their girlfriend's "female emotional combat."

"The sketch isn't unfunny, but it's not the boundary-pushing fare viewers associate with Schumer, and the jokes tread territory ("women be crazy") that is at best old hat and at worst, classically misogynist. Clips-only viewers might also have missed The Problem With Urban Outfitters, a sketch in which the titular problem appears to be that all the store's black employees look the same."
