Speaking with UPROXX this week in a new interview, Taylor addressed his confusions and concerns with the revealing trailer that debuted ahead of the movie's release date. Why was so much given away and was it a huge spoiler or just one of the twists?

"It's funny; I certainly directed those scenes with the intention that no one would know," the filmmaker explained and went on to detail the plot details that were spoiled in the trailer. We're not going to dive too far into this, in case you haven't watched this trailer, but you can explore the spoilers right here in our previous coverage of this news.

Taylor also tried to explain why he thought the people behind this trailer released something like this.

"I know there was kind of a challenging calculus going on in the heads of those who market this thing to decide that this was the right thing to do," he said, according to IGN. " I think they felt like they had to send a strong message to a very wary audience that there was something new, that this was going to new territory. They were concerned that people were misperceiving this as kind of a reboot, and none of us wanted to reboot two perfect movies by James Cameron. I think they felt they had to do something game-changing in how the film was being perceived."
