Now that Independence Day weekend is winding down, folks, we're guessing you're going to need to rid yourselves of those horrid 4th of July hangovers. Luckily, MStars News has just the recipe you need. That is, if you're able to get yourself out of bed and over to a computer in order to read this.

So, come on – sit up and let's get rid of those headaches...if you're awake.

Okay, first thing's first: if you're chugging water to get rid of that hangover, bad news: it's not going to happen. BuzzFeed recently spoke with a physiologist in the Department of Neuroscience over at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Med School by the name of Kevin Strang, Ph.D. According to him, alcohol actually succeeds in blocking a hormone that allows our kidneys to pay mind to how much water we're losing when we urinate. So, in layman's terms, chugging water won't do anything for your hangover.

"If you drink pure water you're going to pee like crazy all night long and in the morning you'll just continue to pee," Strang told BuzzFeed.

Great... no wonder it hasn't worked all these years, huh?

Anyway, so, what can we do to try and lessen these horrid hangovers? Even perhaps the one we're experiencing right now as we type this article? Well, per the report, we need to "properly" keep our body hydrated with the following mixture: salt, sugar and water. Which... sounds terrible, but here's what Dr. Strang is telling us to do:

- Eat some Chicken Noodle Soup
- Drink a sports drink.

You know, like Gatorade. And who doesn't love Gatorade?

Okay, a few people do.

Check out Dr. Strang in a conversation about alcohol and its effects on the human body below:

Alright, readers, there you have it. Let's hope that with the above concoction we can tackle the rest of the day fog-free!
