The 2015 San Diego Comic Con can also be described as the best Cosplay event. During Day 1 at SDCC, cosplayers can be seen role-playing as their favorite character from manga, anime, comic books, cartoons, video games, movies and TV, including Captain Marvel, Boba Fett, Black Canary and more.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, any convention-goer that walks in with a glowing light saber, fake sword, or a realistic-looking firearm, will be greeted by security. The security official has to inspect the estimated 3,000 "weapons," one by one, that are all part of the handmade costume.

While Comic-Con International actually has a strict policy forbidding functioning weapons, the convention has also brought in a group of contracted security officials on hand. These secuirty guard have to spot-check every Jedi, Storm Trooper, and Jon Snow with a dangerous-looking accessory. All these cosplayers have to do though is play by the rules.

An anonymous high-ranking security manager tells THR, "Anything that comes in here that resembles a weapon or can be used as a weapon we check to make sure that it is not an actual weapon. We also roam the floor and if we see anything suspect, we'll inspect the weapon to make sure that it's inert and ensure it's not real and safe to bring into the crowd because we don't want anyone to get hurt. Then we'll tag it with a visual indication that security has looked at it and deemed it as not a threat."

The manager adds, "I'm not into the genre of the superhero characters or comics but we had one individual came in who had in excess of 10 weapons on his costume," he says. "They were realistic - old-style cap guns, swords and knives. He came to us and we inspected all of those items to make sure they weren't real and that the knives were not metal or sharp."
