Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president and CEO and creator or the Wii, passed away over the weekend due to a bile duct growth at the age of 55 years old. Iwata was clearly considered one of the top pioneers of the video gaming community, introducing a new console and leading the company in many ventures including new games, so it's only fitting to report on the reactions of mourning fans and colleagues. "Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth", a statement from Nintendo stated. This straight-to-the-point announcement clearly shows how heartbreaking this news truly is (via IGN).

Iwata saw highs and lows during his tenure at the top of Nintendo, which only resulted in respect from his colleagues and gamers over the years. "I am surprised at this sudden news and overcome with sadness," he said this week. "The entire development team at Nintendo will remain committed to our development policy which Mr. Iwata and we have been constructing together and to yield the development results which Mr. Iwata would appreciate."
