'Star Trek 3' Casting News, Characters: Idris Elba Confirmed for 'Beyond' in Charity Video

The cast and crew of Star Trek 3, which we recently confirmed to be titled Star Trek Beyond, have partnered with Omaze to introduce a new charity initiative for fans of the movies and nine charities that will benefit from this event. Lucky fans can enter to win prizes, including a walk-on role in the highly anticipated new movie, and all of the proceeds will go to the charities involved. Cast members of the series released a great promotional video this week to share the news, but it also confirmed that Idris Elba, who was the subject of many rumors, has indeed joined the cast. This video features cast members John Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin talking about this new charity contest, eventually leading to the introduction of Elba, who also adds his own flare to the video. The top prize for this contest is a walk-on role in the film. If you win, you'd be making history as the first fan to do such a thing in a Star Trek film!

The charities that your money will go to were chosen by the cast members. These charities are Brave Beginnings, Camp Sunshine, Direct Relief, Heaven Homes, Koreatown Youth & Community Center, Make-A-Wish, Time is Precious and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
