HBO has announced new cast members for their upcoming TV remake of the late sci-fi author Michael Crichton's cult classic, Westworld. From Person of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan brings Clifton Collins Jr. (Pacific Rim), Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen), and Eion Bailey (Once Upon a Time), and Jimmi Simpson (Breakout Kings).
As we previously mentioned, the 1970s western/thriller centered around an amusement park and its guests. A precursor to Jurassic Park, as writer/director, Crichton imagined three worlds - the West World, Medieval World, and Roman World - inhabited by human-like androids. Rebelling against their programming, the robots run amok and started attacking the tourists in the climatic final act.
We also mentioned before, Nolan had teased, "I would say, picture your neurosis. Picture the things that keep you up at night-human behavior, artificial intelligence-any of those things that trouble you, worry you. That is exactly what the show is about. We are hoping to exploit all of those anxieties...We're incredibly excited about it, both on the narrative level and on a cinematic level."
Actor Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), will play park boss Dr. Robert Ford. Actress Ingrid Bolso Berda as Armistice. Dressed up in her cowboy outfit. Armistice has facial scarring and tattoos on the side her face. Because of their similar outfits, we can only assume Ed Harris' The Man In Black re-envisions the Gunslinger role, made famous by Yul Brynner (The Ten Commandments).
According to Entertainment Weekly, Bailey will play louche bachelor and veteran Westworld visitor, Logan. Bailey's hedonistic romp through the park motivates his friend, William (Jimmi Simpson), a reluctant first-time guest. Collins will play as Lawrence, a charming but lethal outlaw, who has a knack for getting into the park's various criminal elements.
Because of her series regular role on Homeland, Miranda Otto has left the project, with Knudsen filling in the the part of operations leader, Theresa Cullen.
