'Xena: Warrior Princess' w/ Lucy Lawless Reboot in the Works at NBC?

Lucy Lawless might be back for the Xena: Warrior Princess reboot reportedly coming to NBC! Not only that, but the original executive producers of the '90s TV hit, Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, will be returning to the modernized project of the originally syndicated (1995-2001) Xena. Tapert and Raimi are reportedly looking for a writer to come on-board the project and that it is still in the early phases of development, says The Hollywood Reporter. The project should make headway for an airdate sometime in 2016. It still hasn't been determined whether the season would be a full-season or a "revival" with only 13 episodes.

Lawless and husband Tapert seem pretty on-board with the idea of the reboot project and mentioned at Comic-Con this year, where she was promoting Bruce Campbell's Ash vs. Evil Dead, that she's had Xena on her mind for a while now.

 "I've been pitching [a two-hour movie], actually. The fans really do want that, and I've met some people who've crowdfunded some things, and I'm just like, 'Why don't we just do that?' ... It's still about who owns the rights to Xena. But it would still be cool to do it again with Renée [O'Connor], me, Ted [Raimi] and Bruce. It'd be a fun little gig, but what that is, I don't really know," she said, reports TVLine.

With shows like The X-Files and 24 coming back as a revival of the originals, it'll be interesting to see Xena take shape and see how Lawless will be involved. It is reported that she's not only wanted in front of the camera again, but behind as well.
