On Wednesday we got the best piece of movie news regarding Space Jam since the original film with Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan debuted. It looks like there will be a sequel and its star may be none other than the King of Akron, Ohio, LeBron James. Coming off the heels of a successful role in Amy Schumer's Trainwreck, Warner Bros. inked James to a formal deal and around the same time that was announced, it was revealed the name "Space Jam" was trademarked again by the WB.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara, was ecstatic to bring LeBron on board.

"LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world, and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment," Tsujihara said in a statement. "The combination of LeBron's global media presence and Warner Bros.' unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere."

LeBron shared the same sentiments of excitement in his own statement. "Connecting with my fans and telling meaningful stories have always been my passion," James added. "In everything I've done, from Nike commercials to 'Uninterrupted' and 'Survivor's Remorse,' it's always about connecting with people of all ages and providing unique content they can all enjoy. And I've always loved movies, which makes Warner Bros. the ultimate partner to help us continue to push the envelope. I can't wait to see what we come up with."

Between the trademark and LeBron signing with Warner Bros., you have to think we'll be seeing him in the Space Jam sequel. It was destined to happen at some point.

I'm just as excited to see #Trainwreck as @amyschumer sister "Kim"(white dress). Hahaha!! Love you guys. A photo posted by LeBron James (@kingjames) on Jul 17, 2015 at 1:33pm PDT
