"I Don't Like" rapper Chief Keef had the power pulled on his surprise holographic performance at Craze Fest in Hammond, Indiana on Saturday. Police shut down his performance and said that his appearance, holographic or otherwise, was not approved and Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr. worried Keef would promote gangs and violence. Keef was performing in honor of his friend Marvin Carr, aka rapper Capo, and one-year-old Dillan Harris who were killed in Chicago earlier this month. Carr was shot and died in the hospital. Harris was hit and killed by a car leaving the scene of the shooting.

Keef announced that he would perform a concert for them and put together the Stop the Violence Now Foundation. Keef kept details of his appearance a surprise until close to time for the show. He indicated that he would be performing via hologram but didn't say exactly where until Saturday night. Keef opted to appear through a hologram rather than in person due to outstanding warrants for his arrest from child support cases. Keef appeared onstage in image only but Hammond police cut the power on his performance after he sang "I Don't Like" and as he was talking about ending street violence.

The concert was held on public property and every performer had to be approved by the city. Keef had not been approved. Instead, police were told Chance the Rapper would be performing. "If it was Chance the Rapper like they told us, there would've been no problem at all, but I've heard [Chief Keef] promotes violence, and I don't want that for our city and our officers," McDermott said.

Keef was also virtually kicked out of Chicago. Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office rejected a free hologram performance in Chicago, saying that Keef "promotes violence" and would be "a significant public safety risk." "Stop the violence, stop the killing, stop the nonsense. Let the kids grow up," Keef said when he appeared via hologram.
