Considering Pitch Perfect became and overnight success and it's 2015 sequel Pitch Perfect 2 being a summer release sensation, Brittany Snow has finally agreed to come on board to reprise her role in Pitch Perfect 3. Time Magazine says that she will be, "joining fellow (former) Barden Bellas Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson in the third installment of the powerhouse a cappella franchise." The popularity of the characters and the talent they exude is clear and the studio probably wants to utilize all of these creative ladies in as many projects as possible. Entertainment Weekly even reported that, "To date, this summer's Pitch Perfect 2 has grossed $282 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing movie musical of all time. The first film brought in $115 million worldwide after its smashing 2012 debut." The numbers are clear and missing out on making a third film would be a mistake.
No one else has officially announced a return for the next sequel, nor has a director been hired. Jason Moore directed the original 2012 film and producer/actress Elizabeth Banks helmed this year's sequel. According to EW, the Wet Hot American Summer star will return to produce the next chapter of the franchise under her Brownstone Productions shingle with Max Handelman. The movie will also be written by Kay Cannon who wrote the first two movies as well and the original film was "adapted from Mickey Rapkin's book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory," says Variety.
The first two films were such a smashing good time with all of those talented ladies sharing the screen with comedic dialogue, silly situations, and of course, superb singing! The film will be released on July 21, 2017 so keep your eyes peeled for not only Snow, but Kendrick and Wilson as well. Will Anna Camp be joining them too, we wonder?
