2015 might just happen to be the year of Shawn Mendes. The "Stitches" singer has broken out onto the scene with guns blazing. Not only did his debut album go to No. 1 on the charts, but he is also opening up for Taylor Swift on her 1989 tour. In addition to that he is also embarking on his own sold-out headlining tour. However, that's not the only thing that the star is about to add to his resume, he is also reportedly set to join the very popular CW series The 100 for a guest role.

That's right, Shawn Mendes is taking the world by storm and now he is going to try his hand at acting, as he is set to play a "young Ark survivor" on the tween series. In other news it seems like the episode might even get a musical twist, at least if executive producer Jason Rothenberg, gets his way.

"Shawn is a big fan of the show, and reached out to me on Twitter about potentially working together," Rothenberg explained to E! News. "He's a very talented artist, and we knew we wanted to do something special and different for the premiere. Shawn gave us a unique opportunity and I can't wait for our fans to see our collaboration."

Shawn took to his Instagram account to post a picture from the set of the CW series. The star stands in front of his trailer, with the caption, "HEY GUYS !!! IM GUNNA BE ON #THE100 !!! SO EXCITED!!"

Radio.com is also reporting on the news but says that fans will have to wait until 2016 for the episode, as that is when the show is set to return. Yet, Mendes couldn't contain his excitement to the site.

"I'm so excited to take a step into acting," the singer told the site. "It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and can't wait for everyone to see my first role in The 100."
