Season 5 of Suits returned to USA Network with the status quo changed. In episodes 1 through 5, this is the perfect opportunity to check out how Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) dealt with the aftermath of Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty)'s split.

As we previously mentioned, Harvey (Macht) wasn't doing so well when Donna made her decision to leave him. To make matter worse, Donna left Harvey and them became Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman)'s secretary. Donna has made her choice but Harvey and Louis have become bitter enemies, just when a bigger threat hits the firm.

Here's our 5 thoughts on the recent five episodes of Suits:

5) Best Use of Flashback

In Denial, Harvey is having a difficult time opening up and breaking down his armor in front of his therapist, Dr. Agard (Christina Cole), The episode does a great job switching back and forth between past and present, leading up to Harvey suffering his first panic attack. It's interesting to see how creator Aaron Korsh sets up Harvey's arc, dealing with his panic attacks, for this season.

4) The Father Figure

Just because Mike proposed to Rachel (Meghan Markle), that doesn't mean Robert Zane (Wendall Pierce) is going to make it easy on him. Because he's an orphan, Mike wants to earn Robert's trust and respect, because he seems him as a father figure. At their best, I totally believed Adams and Pierce were arguing, not as lawyers, but as father and son. Plus did you catch The Wire reference when Mike imitated Senator Clay Davis?

3) The Big Bad

As Harvey and Louis duked it out over Donna, Jack Soloff (John Pyper-Ferguson) enjoyed the hell out of making the two suffer. Jack wanted to hurt Harvey where it hurt most; through his money. Even when he had Louis' allegiance, Jack knew how to push his buttons and manipulate the situation in his favor.

2) The Whedonverse Lives On

Who else loved seeing actress Amy Acker (Person of Interest) guest-starring as Ester, Louis Litt's sister? I personally would have loved to see Acker, who was on Joss Whedon's Angel show, have a scene with Jessica (Gina Torres), who was on Whedon's Firefly, but that fanboy crossover would have distracted from the story.

1) Jessica Saves The Day

And speaking of Jessica, in Toe To Toe, did you see how she just annihilated Jack Soloff and used Louis as her guinea pig. I just feel like these past episodes, Jessica has had the best lines, especially when she took on Robert Zane. I want to see more scenes between Jessica (Torres) and Rachel (Markle) since she's being groomed to be her protege.

The fifth season of Suits continues Wednesdays 9pm on USA.

Readers, what did you think of the first five episodes of Suits?
