A month ago the newly crowned WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback went down with a staph infection. This came just months after the former IC Champion Daniel Bryan went down with an injury of his own. The difference between the two though is Bryan will be out for the foreseeable future while Ryback has a return date. On his Twitter account the Big Guy said he should be good to go to defend his championship at WWE's Summerslam. Also, on Instagram, Ryback showed off how massive the staph infection in his knee was.
Here's what the infection looked like. It ballooned up pretty big.

I am more focused than ever and even hungrier. Come Summer Slam I will be 100 percent. To think otherwise is just #Stupid!

The IC Title is far from cursed. Sometimes situations happen that appear negative, but the results and things that come from them are good. — The Big Guy (@Ryback22) August 3, 2015
Ryback has been out since mid-July. He noticed something was wrong the Tuesday after a Monday Night Raw:
"After Raw Monday I woke up Tuesday morning before some media appearances with a severe staff infection in my right knee. I was brought to a hospital and put on strong antibiotics and had 90 cc of fluid drained out of knee in a 24 hour period," he said on Twitter.
"We caught it in time thanks to the great WWE medical team and I will make a full recovery. Will be kept in the hospital for several days and I will not be able to defend my Intercontinental Championship this Sunday. I am sorry to all my fans and the WWE. I will be back shortly, but I have to get this corrected."
