HBO teased footage of their upcoming TV remake of the late sci-fi author Michael Crichton's cult classic, Westworld. From Person of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan, footage featuring Anthony Hopkins, Jeffry Wright, and James Marsden made its debut at the 2015 Television Critics Association (TCA).

As we previously mentioned, the 1970s western/thriller centered on an amusement park and its guests. A precursor to Jurassic Park, as writer/director, Crichton imagined three worlds - the West World, Medieval World, and Roman World - inhabited by human-like androids. Rebelling against their programming, the robots run amok and started attacking the tourists in the climatic final act.

We also mentioned, Nolan described the updated adaptation, "I would say, picture your neurosis. Picture the things that keep you up at night-human behavior, artificial intelligence-any of those things that trouble you, worry you. That is exactly what the show is about. We are hoping to exploit all of those anxieties...We're incredibly excited about it, both on the narrative level and on a cinematic level."

According to IGN, a minute long clip was presented to the attendees at the recent San Diego Comic Con. Then, HBO presented a lengthy trailer at the TCA press tour. Though the trailer has not been released publicly yet, IGN raves from their first impression is that "this looks to be an incredibly cool, compelling series."

HBO president Michael Lombardo describes the differences between the film and the TV show, "This is very much told from the POV of the robots. The corporate world's as dimensionalized as the park. And I think the visitors to the park are really not the primary focus of our show at all. So again, without giving more than that away, I think all I can say is only one character that you saw in the clip is a visitor to the park. And yeah, it resembles the film in name and in spirit and but really is, I think, otherwise not much of a reference point."

Westworld will make its debut in 2016 on HBO.
