'American Crime' Season 2: Andre '300' Benjamin Joins John Ridley, Felicity Huffman Cast!

ABC is adding hip hop artist, Adre 300, to the Season 2 cast of American Crime. With the plot of Season 2 announced, creator John Ridley (12 Years A Slave) adds Andre Benjamin (Revolver) to the returning cast, which already includes Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton.

According to Variety, the second season's central crime, which will take place again in Austin, Texas, will revolve around a high school boy. After being sexually assaulted, the high school boy will then accuse several players on a championship basketball team at their private school. During the horrible crime, the private school's team players took photos of their atrocities and posted them online.

Creator John Ridley reveals, "We wanted to take incidents that sometimes in other shows tend to be week-to-week and episodic and not just use them merely as plot points, but really see how they play out with family, how they have a cascade effect over time, and with the community as well."

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that The Outkast singer will be making his TV debut as a series regular. Benjamin will play architect Michael Lacroix. As a power couple, Lacrioux and his wife, Terri (Regina King), are prominent members of their community. With their financial means, as well as the acumen needed, Michael and Terri intend to fiercely defend their son when he becomes entangled in a scandal at the elite private school.

Ridely tells THR, "Personally, I couldn't be more excited than to work again with Andre. He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All is by my Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by Andre's performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It's fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration."

According to Deadline, Felicty Huffman and Timothy Hutton are set to return for the sophomore season, but their roles are being kept under wraps.
