Stephen Colbert Announces First ‘Late Show’ Guest Following #JonVoyage

Off the heels of his heartwarming #JonVoyage to Daily Show host Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert has announced who the first guest of his upcoming Late Show will be. So, what famous name will be the first to crease up and flatten out that CBS guest chair?

The one and only George Clooney.

In a new tweet from Colbert's official Twitter account, the former Colbert Report host announced that Clooney will be his first guest on Sept. 8. He did, however, ask if one of his followers could let the actor know. So... yeah.

Colbert has been prepping for the upcoming CBS series as of late, dropping a number of promos for the show as well as discussing the ins and outs of putting it together via the Late Show podcast.

The comedian sparked headlines when he showed up at The Daily Show to bid a farewell to Jon Stewart. In fact, his comments to the former Comedy Central host brought tears to Stewart's eyes, specifically when he noted that everyone who worked at The Daily Show were better at their jobs because they had the wonderful pleasure of watching Stewart do his job.

"You were infuriatingly good at your job..."

Colbert was also recently seen, in a more bearded sense, however, on comedian Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The two discussed the art of comedy and how the guest planned on leaving Comedy Central even before CBS came to him. Naturally, it was just too hard to pass up the once-upon-a-time David Letterman-led series.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will begin on Sept. 8 with guest George Clooney. Will you be watching?
