Kim Kardashian Instagram, Morning Sickness Drug Diclegis: FDA Warns Kanye West's Wife

The FDA issued a warning this week because of an Instagram post by social media queen Kim Kardashian. In late July, Kardashian posted a picture on Instagram promoting a drug, Diclegis, which she said helped her with her morning sickness. However, the Kanye West's Keeping Up with the Kardashians wife failed to mention any possible risks, which is not allowed.

"The social media post is false or misleading in that it presents efficacy claims for DICLEGIS," the FDA letter says, "but fails to communicate any risk information associated with its use and it omits material facts."

The Instagram post, which has since been deleted, shows Kardashian holding up a bottle of Diclegis, which is made by Duchesnay.

"I felt a lot better and most importantly, it's been studied and there was no increased risk to the baby," Kardashian wrote in the caption. "I'm so excited and happy with my results that I'm partnering with Duchesnay USA to raise awareness about treating morning sickness."

Duchesnay told CNBC that Kim was paid to promote the drug, but had heard about it through her family doctor. The company said they will take action to address the FDA letter.

"Duchesnay USA takes its regulatory responsibilities very seriously, and acknowledges that its communications, including in social media as in this particular instance, need to be in accordance with applicable rules and regulations," the company told CNBC.

Despite the setback, Duchesnay "has seen a 500 percent spike in digital awareness" since the FDA letter came out, according to Today.

This is Kardashian's second pregnancy with Kanye West. Their first child, North West, turned two years old in June. Both of Kardashian's pregnancies have been well documented both on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and outside of the show.

Just this week, Kardashian posted another attention-garnering Instagram post related to her pregnancy. She shared a naked selfie with her baby bump prominent to prove that she really is pregnant, despite rumors that she's not actually having the child herself.
