If you're someone who works out – or someone who just knows things but doesn't necessarily work out – you know that protein is key. But what are the best foods to eat when you're trying to build muscle, burn fat and tone your core? Well, that's what we're here for!

There are so many foods out there with protein, but as far as the best ones to eat? Let's take a look.

EGGS
Eggs contain a reported "6 of the most valuable grams of protein around," according to The Huffington Post. They contain the sort of protein that helps form not only more protein in your body, but also necessary tissue.

CHICKEN
Anyone looking to up their protein intake should be seriously munching down on some chicken – often! It's the perfect choice not only for the protein but also because it has much less saturated fat than some other meats. One chicken breast has a reported 30 grams of protein.

FISH
This one might be an acquired taste but it still rings true that fish is very high in protein, specifically salmon. Fish is "low in calories and high in value," claims the report. It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, which aid in healthy'ing up your heart and boosting your mood.

NUTS
Rich in healthy fatty acids, and rich in protein! Moreover, people who consumer nuts are reportedly 20% less likely to die from ANY cause, per the New England Journal of Medicine.
