Watch Video of First Three Minutes of 'Fear The Walking Dead' Premiere

Fear the Walking Dead premieres this Sunday, but AMC has already released the first three minutes of the episode for our viewing pleasure!

The video confirms a few things we already knew about the series. For starters, the world is still mostly whole and hasn't yet gone totally to hell. This isn't Rick Grimes in the woods with his family fighting for survival. There are homes and families and supermarkets and churches. And we're going to get to watch it all fall apart!

Second, the zombies are not the decayed, melting husks we've seen on the main series. If you've seen the photos of the zombies in Season 6, then you know exactly what I mean. In fact, the very first zombie we see here in the spinoff is a blond girl in a dress, and she looks mostly intact other than the blood on her face and the change in her eyes.

The opening scene sets the right tone for the series. It's tense and frightening without all the chaos of hordes of zombie and improbable headshots. If this is any indication of what the show will be, then we're off to a good start.

The official description for the series bears this out, as it makes clear that we're in a different setting than The Walking Dead and also touches on the familial aspect of the series:

"Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories."
