Ridley Scott's 'Martian' Extended Trailer: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain Star in 2015 Movie

"Help is only 140 million miles away," reads the new tagline of the newest, extended trailer for the 2015 Ridley Scott movie The Martian starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Jeff Daniels, Sean Bean, Donald Glover, Michael Pena and Mackenzie Davis. The film follows Damon's character "as an astronaut fighting for survival after a massive dust storm leaves him stranded on Mars with only a few weeks of supplies left. Back on Earth, a team of NASA scientists try to figure out how to bring him home, while his former crewmates hatch their own dangerous mission to rescue him," Yahoo! News reports.

The newest trailer shows Watney (Damon) trying to grow more food on a planet that won't grow anything. He only has enough food for 51 days and the NASA team below believes that he will die of starvation before they can ever reach him seeing as it will take four years before the next team of astronauts to arrive on the Red Planet.

"It feels like it held on to what everybody loved about the book," Damon said, according to EW. "At the end of the day it's a really entertaining story."

Damon claims that he was immediately taken with the script that was adapted from the novel by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), "who had planned to direct the film. But when Goddard had to bow out for another movie, the producers went to a man who knows his way around a space thriller: Alien director Ridley Scott. Amazingly, Damon and Scott had never crossed paths," Entertainment Weekly says. The two hit it off immediately and agreed to work on the project.
