Earlier this month, a casting shortlist of actresses favored for the role of comic book character Bella Donna Boudreaux, the love interest of Gambit, leaked, naming possible starlets that could star opposite Channing Tatum in the 2016 film. Actresses Rebecca Ferguson, Lea Seydoux, and Abbey Lee made up this list, but new reports suggest Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color, Spectre) has been offered the part and could star in the project. According to the breaking news from Deadline, Fergusson (Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation) was set to test for the role, but dropped out of the running because she took the leading role in The Girl On The Train for DreamWorks.

Here is our coverage on the shortlist from earlier this month.

Apparently, producers weren't convinced Seydoux could pull off a Cajun accent that the role calls for, but we can see that she's proven them wrong, according to The Wrap. Bella Donna is the head of the Assassin's Guild in the Marvel Comics universe as well as Gambit's childhood paramour. Seydoux previously portrayed an assassin in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

After some back-and-forth on whether or not Tatum would actually star in the project, we found out earlier this month that he officially signed on. According to new rumors, the film is set to shoot in New Orleans this October and will hit theaters a year later in 2016, according to Slash Film.

Seydoux will next be seen in the 2015 James Bond movie Spectre in November, taking on the role of another iconic Bond Girl. She portrays Madeleine Swann in the new production from director Sam Mendes. Check out a recent trailer for the 007 movie here:
