Jasmine Twitty is 25 years old, and has just been sworn in as the youngest judge ever in Easley, South Carolina. The hard-working woman has been dedicating herself to her studies at the College of Charleston, and it is all paying off by making history in the southern city.

Twitty has been recognized for quite some time for working hard to develop young people into professionals, and is working to help them knock down barriers, very similarly to how her new appointment seems to be shattering barriers and expectations. She will now be part of American history with the grand milestone in the law and judicial industry, and appears to have already taken her seat on the bench as of this past week.

Twitty was able to help develop young people into professionals by becoming a member of the Upstate Network Young Professionals Board in the last couple of years. She is also said to be a treasurer of a civil rights organization called Urban League of the Upstate. Reports say that the young lady is said to have an “enormous spirit, passion for justice and drive to continue knocking down barriers in front of her.”

The news of Jasmine Twitty’s appointment also comes following the mass shooting that took place at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina in June. Gunman Dylann Roof took part in Bible study at the historical church but then shot nine African-American congregation members. It was later ruled as a hate crime by officials, with Roof currently undergoing a trial for his actions.

Twitty will be joining those fighting for justice, and is helping to create a turning point for the perception of African-Americans within the country. As all judges should do, she will be working hard to knock down barriers for those who deserve more opportunities, or who are facing injustice.

Congratulations to Jasmine Twitty on her major accomplishment!
