Premier League defender John Stones is the subject of hot debate thanks to defending champions Chelsea FC bidding big money to sign the 21-year-old while his current team, Everton, is fighting from every angle to keep him. Despite the footballer submitting a transfer request and allegedly wanting to make the move to Chelsea, Everton refuses to budge; but is it worth the effort of rejecting these big offers? According to a new Instagram video showing Everton fans booing Stones as he walks off the field after the team's recent victory in the Capitol One Cup tournament, the answer seems to be "no." Earlier this week, Stones submitted a transfer request after Everton turned down another bid from Chelsea, according to ESPN FC. This comes after coach Roberto Martinez told the media that he wants John to stay with Everton and that a transfer request means nothing to him. Check out a clip from a recent interview with Martinez right here:

Still, the request was submitted. It seems like this battle is getting a bit out of hand because Everton has already responded to the request with another denial.

"His request will be rejected," Martinez said a day after the request was submitted, according to For The Win. "I have not spoken about it until now because we have been preparing for a match but we need to set an example for other clubs. Money cannot buy everything in football. Players are human and they deserve to be able to consider the next move in their careers but we are attempting to build the club and get to a Wembley final."

We'll have to see how this one plays out, still, but recent footage of Everton fans screaming profanities at Stones after a victory has us worried Everton isn't completely behind the player. Watch a video clip right here (Warning: This Instagram video contains graphic language):
