FX has released a new photo from Kurt Sutter's followup drama. Should audiences expect Ed Sheeran to "sing or act" to Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Katey Sagal (Sons Of Anarchy's Gemma Teller), Matthew Rhys (The Americans) in the medieval period piece, The Bastard Executioner?

As we previously mentioned,The Bastard Executioner follows a warrior knight, Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones) in King Edward III's court. The loyal knight has been broken by the ravages of war and vows to leave the way of the sword. When violence strikes again, the retired knight is forced to pick up his sword again.

The Married With Children actress will play Annora of the Alders, who offers predictions, cures and potions. The True Blood actor plays Milus Corbett, a former marshal in the army, who now serves as his own chamberlain, chancellor and justiciar. Rhys will have the guest-starring role of Gruffudd, a smart, fearless and noble blood leader of the Welsh rebels. Sutter himself will play the Dark Mute in the 10-episode arc.

As we mentioned before, the six time Grammy nominee will portray Sir Cormac in a recurring role on the show. Cormac is described as "an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sutter discusses acting on set, as opposed to performing on stage, "I feel very out of place. I feel like I need a few more days to sink in to the idea of acting. I'm very good with a guitar in my hand, but I feel a bit lost without it. I think I just need more practice with acting. I'm glad no one is telling me I'm not good yet. I'm doing stuff and no one is saying, 'bad sh-. That's either them being polite which I don't think they would be on this show, or it's going well."

Check out EW's exclusive first look at Ed Sheeran in wardrobe here:

The Thinking Out Loud singer dishes on his costume, "When I walked into makeup they were like, we are going to have to cut your fringe and give you a bowl haircut, and I was like, "Ah that's not happening." This hat [he's wears in the show] is a sign of faith. With these hats, you instantly know I'm someone who is in a religious sect."

The Bastard Executioner premieres September 15 at 10 pm on FX.
